Health Cam: camera-based staff presence monitoring for hospitals
A staff registry with live camera recognition: staff are enrolled once, recognised as they pass a camera, and their presence recorded without cards, fingerprints or a queue at a machine.
The challenge
Attendance in a hospital is awkward to capture. Shifts overlap, staff move between buildings, a fingerprint reader on a ward is a hygiene question, and a card can be handed to a colleague. Management wanted to know who was actually present, and when, without adding another thing staff have to stop and do.
What we did
Health Cam keeps a staff registry and enrols each person's face once. A live camera feed is matched against the registry; when a known face is recognised, a presence record is written with the time, and a real-time monitoring view shows who has been seen. Presence records are kept per person for later review.
The platform is web-based, so a duty manager can watch the live view and pull records from any browser.
The outcome
Presence is captured passively as staff pass a camera, with no card or fingerprint step. Health Cam is our own platform.
