Online appointment booking and self-service kiosk at Bharatpur Hospital
Patients of a large government hospital book an outpatient appointment from their phone with a one-time password, then print their own ticket, laboratory report or insurance balance at a kiosk in the hall.
The challenge
Registration at a large government hospital means a queue. Every patient, new or returning, insured or not, waited at the same counters to be entered by hand, and the laboratory and insurance desks then repeated the wait for a printout.
An online option had to work for people with a basic phone and no email, had to stop one person block-booking slots for others, and had to fit the hospital's existing registration and health-insurance workflow rather than replace it.
What we did
The booking site verifies a mobile number with a six-digit one-time password, takes the registration details in Nepali or English, and issues a printable ticket for the chosen department and date. One active registration per mobile number keeps slots honest, and insurance patients are told up front to bring their HIB Swasthya Bima card for verification.
In the hospital hall the same system drives a bilingual self-service kiosk: print a laboratory report, check a health-insurance balance, print an existing ticket, register on screen, or scan a QR code and finish registration on your own phone. The whole system runs on the hospital's own server.
The outcome
Patients arrive with a ticket already in hand and collect their own reports without joining a counter queue. Nineteen outpatient departments are bookable online, and the kiosk takes the most repetitive printing work away from the front desk and the laboratory.
