Online appointment with e-payment for Bakulahar Hospital
Patients choose a department on the days it actually runs a clinic, pay the registration fee through eSewa, and arrive with a confirmed appointment - including health-insurance and follow-up visits.
The challenge
The hospital wanted online booking that reflected reality: a gynaecology clinic that runs four days a week, an orthopaedic clinic that does not run on Fridays, insurance patients whose membership must be checked, and follow-up visits that should not be charged as new registrations. It also wanted the registration fee collected at booking time so that no-shows did not hold slots.
What we did
The booking form is bilingual and uses a Nepali date picker, because that is the calendar patients think in. Each department carries its clinic days in the selection list itself, so a patient cannot book a day the clinic is closed. Insured patients enter their IMIS membership number and are told their card will be verified on arrival; follow-up patients give their hospital number and follow-up date instead of paying a new registration charge.
Registration and service charges are itemised, and payment is taken through eSewa before the appointment is confirmed, with an SMS to the patient's phone.
The outcome
Booking, payment and confirmation happen in one pass on the patient's phone, and the hospital's counters receive patients who are already registered and paid.
